11 Ways to Monetize Your Blog

You’ve been blogging for some time and now you’re ready to start making money from your blog. But there’s only one problem; you have no idea how to go about doing that. Well, as long as you’re realistic and not looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, monetizing your blog should be fairly simple. Here are eleven ways you could do that.

Sell your services
If you absolutely love writing, you could offer freelance writing on your blog under a tab titled “Work with Me” for example. Give a detailed description of the service you can over and a contact email to be reached at. You can offer any other services you are good at.

Freelance writing on other blogs
There are many companies and other bloggers looking for contributors to their sites. You can go to writing freelance sites such as ProBlogger and Contena to look for writing gigs. Guest posts are usually free because the guest writer gains from the experience of being exposed to a new audience. It also increases the authenticity of their blog resulting in higher ranking in Google Search (SEO). But, you may find some paying guest posts. That’s another way to make money from your blogging experience.

Sell images
Bloggers always need images for their content. Although there are many free image sites, many bloggers look for unique images to stand out above all the free ones going from blogger to blogger. You can display some samples on your blog, include it in your subscribers’ freebies, and sell some directly from your blog. You can also sell them on platforms like BigStock, GettyImages, or AdobeStock.

Sell online courses
This is a very popular one among bloggers. You can sell e-courses through your email newsletter using email marketing tools such as AWeber and GetResponse. AWeber even has a free guide PDF book on What to Write in Your Emails. If you prefer using a third-party tool where there’s a bigger audience, you can try Teachable.

Sell e-books
Sell your ebooks on your blog or Amazon Kindle to take your expertise to the next level. You don’t have to start with a 300-page book. Most people probably don’t have time to read all of that. Keep it simple, straightforward, and easy to read. Many bloggers sell ‘cheat sheets’ where they simplify a book into just bullet lists. It’s attention-grabbing and almost imposes a call to action. I personally prefer reading such ebooks because they are quick and effective.

Once you’ve established your expertise and have gained online trust, consider coaching others who need step by step guide to the knowledge you possess. You can also offer consultation to answer people’s questions.

Affiliate marketing

Recommending your favorite courses
You can recommend other bloggers’ online courses that you’ve taken and benefited from. Receive a commission per sale.

Allow others to recommend your products 
If you have e-courses, ebooks, or tangible products that you’d like to sell faster, allow your happy buyers to recommend your products to their friends and readers in exchange for a commission on every sale. SendOwl is a tool many bloggers use to sell their digital products and create affiliate links at the same time.

Put ads on your blog
Not every blogger would recommend putting ads on your blog, but you have the option to do so and earn passive income. With ads, you usually get paid for the number of visitors who see the ads or click on them. Some ad programs require the publisher to have a certain number of visitors per month on their blog, but there are also those that have no requirements as long as there’s no violation of their terms. Two very easy ones to join are Google AdSense and MediaNet.

Share all blog activities on social media
Last but not least, share your blog posts on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram. Share on multiple platforms, but try not to overwhelm yourself. Two to three social media pages should be more than enough in the beginning. The purpose of this is to expose your blog to more readers and of course to potential clients as well.
